sniff…illiniguy.com is moving!!!

Yes, that’s right, it’s that time where I change hosts yet again. I recently changed jobs, getting back into the Java world again, and realized, hey! This is what I’ve been missing! A reason to feel good about what I do, open-source code, cross-platform development, community involvement….and so with that, I’ve decided to move my sites to Java-based (Linux) hosts so I can concentrate on that part of the universe.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not going to abandon .NET. Microsoft may be a different issue, only if they don’t decide to come along. My main thing is I started seeing how much I could get out there in the open-source community, how many people are giving to the community, instead of closing up and selling software for the highest dollar.

But I’ll still be doing .NET, I think it’s a great jump for Microsoft. In fact, I’ll be looking at the Mono project as part of my shifting of OSes. But that’s about as far as I’ll go. If they ever decide to start releasing packages such as Office on other platforms, I’d use them in a heart-beat. They’ve always got the best usability features….

Anyway, enough babbling, just wanted this to be brief. illiniguy.com is currently being moved/updated and in a couple days it will point at my new site. You can still use this link to get to this blog perhaps for a few days after that (or not), I’m waiting for that domain to be repointed as well; in the meantime I repointed that link so you can still come read my old posts here, etc. If you come back and end up on the ‘other side’, that means I’m in the process of updating my content on the new site….and you’ll see some big improvements! New blogging engine (I will be migrating my old posts as well), perhaps a Tiki (or is it Wiki?), new layout, etc. So please keep checking back!
