OK, I know it’s been a week and a half, but what a week and a half it’s been. I’ll be posting alot more about that in the next few days. But I hope everyone had a good turkey day, as we look forward to the end of the year….
As some of you know, and as I’ve posted here before, I was on the bandwagon of Mozilla in a big way as the best browser out there. It has everything IE won’t have until Longhorn: tabbed browsing, tons of plugins, and a sleek rendering engine. But in the past week I’ve come to hate its one downfall. It’s not IE! There are so many sites where I can’t stand it anymore, it doesn’t render pages correctly! But it’s not Mozilla’s fault, it’s the fact that we have too many developers out there coding for one browser. Not to mention the scenario where most of Microsoft’s site is not friendly to it as well.
So after stewing over it for awhile, I decided to try out one of the IE ‘skins’ or applications that are built as a wrapper for IE. What do I mean? Well, I have fallen for another browser in the past few days, Avant Browser. AB isn’t really a browser per se, it’s really an application that is built on top of IE’s rendering engine in Windows. Granted it can therefore only run on Windows systems, but at least now I don’t have problems with those damn banking sites and MSDN!
Sorry, Mozilla! I was tooting the horn for you, but I can’t put up with non-compatible sites….just a lesson for those of you out there not coding to DOM-level browsers, get your crap together and promote competition!
BTW, I’ll pry change my mind in another month and be looking for another alternative….
